On 26 April 2013, Mawlana Hazar Imam announced the engagement of his eldest son, Prince Rahim, to Ms Kendra Spears of Seattle, Washington, the United States.

Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Singapore on 30 March 2012, after inaugurating an exhibition of art objects from the Aga Khan Museum collection at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. Amongst his other enagements while in Singapore, Hazar Imam will meet with the Far East Jamat.
Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Kuala Lumpur on 29 March 2012 for a two-day visit, during which he inaugurated an exhibition of art objects from the Aga Khan Museum collection at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. Hazar Imam then proceeded to Singapore to meet with the Far East Jamat.
In February 2012, the Ismaili Council for India organised a Jamati institutional dinner in honour of Princess Zahra, who was visiting Mumbai to review the ongoing expansion of the Prince Aly Khan Hospital.
At the close of 2011, Ismaili Games were held in Uganda and Kenya. Featuring a wide range of sports, the Games offered opportunities for members of the Jamat to come together and celebrate through competition and camaraderie.
On 20 February 2012, Princess Zahra visisted the Prince Aly Khan Hospital in Mumbai. The hospital is being expanded and Princess Zahra is the Chair of the Steering Committee for its redevelopment.
Mawlana Hazar Imam addressed a leadership dinner at the Urban Land Institute Europe Annual Conference held in Paris on 31 January 2012. In October 2011, the Urban Land Institute honoured Hazar Imam with the J.C. Nichols Prize for his commitment to the highest standards of responsible development.

During a visit to Toronto on 15 January 2012, Mawlana Hazar Imam and Prince Amyn were at the Wynford Drive construction site to review construction progress and consider design details for the Aga Khan Museum and the Ismaili Centre.
At a special convocation ceremony held on 13 January 2012 at the University of Ottawa, Mawlana Hazar Imam was awarded the honorary degree Doctor of the University for his service to humanity.
The Opportunity Africa conference took place between 12–13 November 2011 at the Ismaili Centre, London, and was organised by the Aga Khan Economic Planning Boards for the United Kingdom, France and Portugal.
Mawlana Hazar Imam arrived in Bishkek on 1 December 2011 for the inauguration of the new President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Almazbek Atambaev. During the visit, Hazar Imam met with President Atambaev, as well as former President Roza Otunbaeva, to discuss the AKDN’s partnership with the country.
Mawlana Hazar Imam visited Chicago on 4 November 2011, where he and Illinois State Governor Patrick Quinn signed an Agreement of Cooperation between the State of Illinois and the Ismaili Imamat.
On 1 November 2011, Mawlana Hazar Imam and President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, inaugurated the Dushanbe Serena Hotel in the heart of the Tajik capital. Prince Amyn and Prince Rahim were also present for the ceremony.
